Mid 12th Century. Aleppo, Syria.

Named after the find‑spot (Tell Minis) of a cache near Aleppo but produced at unidentified centers, this luster is characterized by a reddish hue because of its low silver content. Stonepaste; luster-painted on transparent glaze. H. 2 1/8 in. ( 5.4 cm) Diam. 8 in. (20.3 cm). Accession no. 66.37.
