Late Imperial Roman Glass Beads (images)


 

3rd - 4th Century. Gotland, Sweden. Glass bead of a glodular shape is made in a millefiori technique. The colours alternate from yellow to blue in a chequered band and in an arrangement of four squares. The yellow squares are formed by spirals and the blue one have red dots encircled by a white line in the middle. Diameter: 28.50 millimetres Height: 21.50 millimetres Weight: 24.45 grammes. Accession No. 1921,1101.59.
